Who We Are
We are engineers who happen to do some consulting, not consultants who happen to do some engineering.
Indigo Energy not only installs solar projects in Myanmar, but also provides engineering design expertise to international clients remotely, leveraging its experience as installers in Myanmar. This allows the company to provide renewable engineering solutions and supporting the development of Myanmar while providing job opportunities for young engineers.
Indigo Energy is committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions to its international clients and raising the image and development of Myanmar.
Indigo Energy started when Allen Himes came to Myanmar in 2012 to explore the possibility of developing renewable energy projects. While he looked through a number of potential opportunities including large-scale wind farm development and biomass gasification, Indigo Energy invested early in the Myanmar electricity sector by developing, designing, building, and operating some solar micro-grid pilots in Ayeyawaddy Division in 2013.
Indigo Energy successfully piloted the micro-grid projects but was early to the market for micro-grids in Myanmar. As such, investors were not comfortable with the early-stage risk and Indigo Energy was not able to raise money to scale the operations. Following these micro-grid projects, Allen focused on consulting projects in the solar and infrastructure space, both locally and in the region.
In early 2017, after appropriate research on where the market opportunities were in Myanmar, Indigo Energy was relaunched and focused on rooftop solar for industrial applications, and C&I customers. 2018 is poised to be a breakthrough year for Indigo Energy as we have signed preliminary agreements with a number of clients and are in advanced discussions with many more.
Now, Indigo Energy has completed 35+ solar EPC projects and has been able to offer various kinds of services with two business models not only in Myanmar but also around the globe. To reach these global clients, we had to pivot the business to focus on outsourcing our solar engineering skills and knowledge to international customers.
